Believe in Yourself (Video Part 4 of 6)

Believe in Yourself

If you are going to be successful in creating the life of your dreams, you have to believe that you are capable of making it happen. You have to believe that you have the right stuff, and you are able to pull it off.

Whether you call it self-esteem, self-confidence or self-assurance, it is a deep-seated belief that you have what it takes—the abilities, the inner resources, the talents and the skills to create your desired results.

Now, believing in yourself is simply an attitude. Believing in yourself is a choice. You have to choose to believe that you can do anything you set your mind to -- anything at all -- because, in fact, you can.

It might help you to know that the latest brain research now indicates, with enough positive self-talk and positive visualization, combined with proper training, coaching, and practice, anyone can learn to do almost anything.

Now, I have interviewed thousands of successful people, and almost every one of them told me, "I was not the most gifted or talented person in my field, but I chose to believe that anything was possible. And because of that I studied, I practiced, and I worked harder than the others, and that's how I got to where I am.

"If Ruben Gonzales, a 20-year old living in Texas, hot Texas, can take up the luge, which is a winter sport, and become an Olympic athlete...If Bill Gates who was a college drop-out, can become a billionaire...and Stephen J. Cannal a dyslexic student who failed three grades in school, can become a bestselling author and television producer...then you, too, can accomplish anything if you will simply believe it is possible.

So, make the decision right now to believe that you create all of your experiences, because you do! Let's start creating the ones you want by believing you can.Sounds a little strange, but accepting this level of responsibility is uniquely and inevitably empowering. It means you can do, change, and become anything at all.

The Importance of Believing It's Possible (part 3 of 6)

Believe It Is Possible

Scientists used to believe that humans responded to information flowing into the brain from the outside world. But what we now know is that instead, we respond to what the brain -- based on previous experience -- expects to happen next.

In fact, the mind is such a powerful instrument; it can deliver literally everything you want through the power of positive expectation.

But you have to believe that what you want is possible.
This is why it's so important to always hold a positive expectation that what you want is going to happen. It is simply a choice and a discipline of the mind.

And as you commit to believing in yourself, also make a commitment to toning down the negative thinking and the complaints that you have in the complaint department of your head. Look at what you are complaining about. Think of all the things we complain about...
I'm fat. I'm tired. I can't get out of debt. I won't ever find a better job. I can't stand the relationship I have with my father. I'll never find a soul mate in this lifetime.

Take the time to really examine your complaints because more than likely these are things you can actually do something about. These are not things being controlled by other people, other things or other events. They are things YOU can take constructive action on.

And when you replace your old negative expectations with more positive ones... when you begin to believe that what you want truly is possible... your brain will actually take over the job of figuring out how to accomplish that possibility for you.

It will start to come up with creative ideas. It will start noticing resources and people in your environment that were always there, that can help you, and it will attract people and opportunities into your life.

And ... better than that ... your brain will actually start to expect to achieve that outcome. But first you have to choose to believe that what you want is possible. Even if it feels like you are lying to yourself at first, I promise you...if you keep it up for 30 days in a row, and you're going to start noticing some amazing results.

Activating The Law of Attraction

The Law of Attraction is the most powerful law in the universe. And, just like gravity, it is always operating whether you are aware of it or not. Simply put, the Law of Attraction says that you will attract into your life whatever you focus on. Whatever you give your energy and attention to will be
magnetized to you. This means whatever you think about, talk about, read about, watch on television, listen to on the radio, worry about, fantasize about, and feel strongly about, you will attract more of it into your life. Therefore, if you stay focused on all the good and positive things in your life, you will automatically draw to yourself more good and positive things. Likewise, if you focus on lack and negativity, then that is what you will draw to yourself.

How can you use the “Law of Attraction” to enhance our life?

The key to utilizing the Law of Attraction is to constantly focus on, talk about, visualize, and expect to receive that which you want-not what you don’t want. To use this Law to your benefit, you have to quit talking about your unwanted current reality and do two things instead: 1) appreciate and celebrate that which you already have; and 2) focus on, talk about, believe, visualize, affirm, and expect that all you desire is already on its way to you. Maintain a constant focus on your vision. Keep your eye and your conversation on what you are already grateful for and what you are creating.

Get started today...
Take time to clarify exactly what you want in every area of your life without limiting yourself by worrying about how you are going to get it. Then write a vivid and complete “ideal scene” of what it will look, sounds, and feel like when you actually have it. Do this for every aspect of your ideal vision-job and career, finances, health and fitness, relationships, fun and recreation, possessions, personal and spiritual growth, and the contribution you want to make to the world.

Next, create a vision board-either in the form of a vision book or a screen saver-that contains visual images of your vision already manifested. Take time every day to close your eyes and visualize each ideal scene as already complete, and, most importantly, to feel the feelings you would feel if you had already achieved this goal or a desire.

Next, release your request to the universe. Trust that you are now attracting the ideas, people, resources, money, and opportunities will start coming into your awareness. Pay attention to them.
The next step is to begin taking action on the creative impulses you receive. For example, if you want to be a doctor, the obvious actions are to study anatomy, biology, and biochemistry, apply to medical school, and so on. Inspired actions, on the other hand, arise from your intuition, during meditation, or occur to you as sudden impulses that have a deep feeling of rightness to them. An example might be that one afternoon you get this overwhelming urge to take some cookies to the elderly woman who lives down the street who always treated you kindly when you were a kid, so you do. When she invites you into her house, she introduces you to her nephew who is visiting, and he turns out to be the Dean of the Harvard Medical School.

Finally, the full utilize the law of Attraction in your life, you have to become a vibrational match with whatever it is you want to attract into your life. This means creating and maintaining an emotional state that matches the one you will experience when you actually get the thing you are focusing on. If your goal is to be rich, you need to focus on feeling abundant now. You can do this by appreciating what you already have, and continually finding more and more things to be grateful for. You can do it by being generous with what you already have. Most importantly, you do it by thinking abundant thoughts and feeling rich right now.

If your desire is to attract your soulmate into your life, start feeling happy about the relationships that you already enjoy. Act as if you are already loved and adored. Pamper yourself. Buy yourself flowers. Clean up your house or apartment the way you would if you were expecting company. Bring closure to your past relationships by forgiving any hurts and appreciating all the good things that you experienced. Let go of any resentments, guilt, or hurt you might be carrying from the past. Find appreciation for the lessons you’ve learned from previous lovers so that you can be free of the past and live in genuine state of positive excitement about the future.

How to Get Motivated When You're Feeling Uninspired

We all have those days when we just don't feel like doing the work associated with achieving our goals, so the question is: How do you get motivated when you're feeling uninspired?

It's as simple as finding the motivating factor - the thing that will inspire you to take the next step.
But what if the thing that normally motivates you isn't working today - right now when you need it?

How do you get motivated and inspired to do what you need to do?

Find a new motivator.

First, identify your usual motivating factor by clarifying what normally leads you to action: The pleasure of achieving the desired end result or the pain of avoiding an unwanted result.

In other words, every decision you make is based on the positive attraction to the pleasure of the benefits (pleasure) or in the negative avoidance of the pain of the penalties (pain).

When you find the dominant motivator (pleasure or pain) all you have to do is leverage it to inspire you to take action.

For instance, some days you may be motivated by pleasure, other days it might be by pain. Pay attention to the days you feel especially inspired to get motivated. Are those days when you feel most inspired driven predominantly by pleasure of the doing or pain of not doing? (This is your usual motivating factor.)

Tip: Log your personal motivators in a journal or notebook to identify your personal motivators and patterns to help you better manage your actions and goal achievement.

When you discover your personal motivator factor, you know what to switch up on the days when you feel uninspired.
If you're feeling uninspired, start by asking yourself these questions:

What are the Results If I Do The Work?

This is the pleasure motivator... when you're motivated to do the work because of the benefits it brings.

If you're feeling uninspired, this is the first question to ask yourself. You may not feel like going to the gym, but the benefits of doing the work inspires you to take the action you need in order to achieve the end results.

Ask yourself:

What are the end results when I do the work?
Keep going:

Are the end results, regardless of the work that has to be done at this moment, enough to motivate me? Is my desire for the end results deep enough to get me to do what I need to do now to achieve a future goal?

If you're inspired to do the work, you've found your motivating factor. Take action NOW, before your inspiration wavers!

What are the Results If I Don't Do The Work?

If the pleasure of doing the work isn't enough to get you motivated, perhaps the pain of not doing the work will be enough to get you going?
Using the same example of going to the gym, let's approach it from a different angle:

Perhaps, up until this point, you haven't been able to motivate yourself to do what you need to do by thinking about the benefits of doing the work. In this case, the pleasure motivator isn't working, so you've got to approach it from another angle: the pain motivator.

Ask yourself:

What are my end results if I don't do the work?

Keep going:

Are these the end results I truly desire? Am I willing to sacrifice or undo my previous efforts? Am I willing to delay achieving a goal I deeply desire?
If you're inspired to do the work, you've found your motivating factor. Take action NOW, before your inspiration wavers!
Still feeling uninspired? Ask yourself this additional question.

Am I Willing To Pay The Price?

Good, bad, short-term, long-term - there are consequences to every decision you make. (Even a non-decision cannot escape the consequences... ) If you're still not motivated to take action, there are only a few questions left to ask:

Am I willing to pay the price for action or non-action?
Am I willing to accept the consequences of my decision?
Am I making this choice so that I won't regret my decision, or will I regret it later?

Either way, you will come to a decision to take action or not to take action - and either is okay. Whatever you decide - own it. Own the decision, own the consequences and remember that tomorrow is a brand new day. What you choose to do is just as important as what you choose not to do.

Tip: Beware not to use your decisions to feel guilty about your shortcomings. Everyone has down days - everyone has days when rest is more important than action. Do not set goals that set you up to feel guilty, set you up for failure, or are someone else's goals for you. Commit to goals that carry a deep desire so the desire propels your motivation. If you have a down day, you have a down day. So what? Start again tomorrow. Just be sure to own your decision and don't use it as an excuse to beat yourself down or to wallow in guilt.

You are your own best navigator when it comes to achieving your goals. It may not always be about go-go-going. While we desire to reach the end goal, the journey is unique to each of us. What may be right action for you, may not be right action for someone else.

Learn to follow what action (or non-action) feels best - for you. If you find a specific goal particularly challenging or stagnating, revise it - chunk it down - delete it - or approach it from the opposite motivator.

5 Questions to Ask When You're Not Motivated to Achieve Your Goals

Even the most motivated of achievers can sometimes feel unmotivated. So what do you do in those crucial moments of inner negotiation - do I commit to two steps forward or relent to two steps backwards - and how do you justify your decision?

What if not being motivated to achieve your goals is a sign of a deeper, unresolved issue? Here are five questions to uncover the possible reasons you're not motivated to achieve your goals:

1. Do I Really Want This?

Before you start discounting yourself as being weak or a failure, ask yourself if you really want this.

Do you really want the end result? Do you want it bad enough to do whatever it takes to achieve it?

If the answer is no to either question, it's pretty obvious why you may not be motivated to doing the work the goal requires to actually achieve it.

Achieving your goals doesn't necessarily have to be hard, but it can be challenging for any number of reasons. If you don't have enough fire, passion, and desire to achieve a goal, the process is likely going to be a lot harder than it has to be.

Tip: Stick to goals that you want bad enough that the decision to do what you need to do, in order to achieve it, is easy.

2. If I Don't Want This, What Do I Want?

If you've asked yourself, do I really want this? and "no" was the answer - there's only one remaining question to ask:

If I don't want this, what do I really want?

The answer may require some soul searching or big dreaming; just be sure it's something that has enough desire to pull you through the "work" of achieving the goal.

Tip: Committing to goals you don't really want serves little purpose. Instead, craft goals you desire with your heart, guts, and soul - those goals that inspire you to do the work required. These types of goals will get you excited and motivate you to achieving them.

3. What's My Big Why?

In the middle of doing the "work" of goal achievement, it's easy to lose sight of why you're doing it. When you find you're not motivated to keep going, focus on the emotional reason behind why you made the initial commitment. So ask yourself:

Who/what inspired me to make the initial commitment to this goal?
Is my reasoning behind the commitment (my big why) still a high priority - a high enough priority to continue my commitment to doing whatever it takes - and nothing less?

If the answer is yes, connect to your big why. It's as easy as reminding yourself of the emotion that prompted your initial commitment - the why behind your decision. Connecting to the why allows you to feel emotions and renew your commitment to the goal.
If the answer is no, they your why isn't a big enough why - or it may be time to revise your goals so you can find a big why.

4. What are the Consequences of Not Doing the Work?

The goal of this question is to get you thinking about the consequences of not doing the work. There is only ever one reason behind every choice you make: it's that you believe your choice will bring about greater comfort or happiness and/or reduction of pain or discomfort.

Let's take weight loss as an example. On one hand, you commit to losing 25 lbs because you want to live a long, healthy life, well into your elderly years (goal driven by increasing pleasure and overall good feeling). On the other hand, you commit to losing 25 lbs. because you don't like the way you look in a bathing suit (goal driven by reducing pain).
So the question is:

Are the consequences of not doing the work undesirable enough to motivate you to do the work needed - right here, right now?

If the pleasure of achieving a future goal is not enough to motivate you, then turn the tables. Instead of trying to motivate yourself by pleasure, think about the pain. Is the pain enough to motivate you to do the work?

Tip: Pleasure is a more sustainable motivator and is initially the best way to inspire you, but sometimes the realization of pain can provide just the kick-in-the-pants you need to get moving.

5. Do I Want To Stay Stuck Here?

If you really want this and you have a strong emotional connection to your big why, but you're still not motivated enough to do the work, then ask the following questions:

Do I want to stay stuck here?
What if I'm still here, in this same place, next week - next year - in five years?
What if things never change?
If I give up today, how will I feel tomorrow?
Am I going to be happy with any of these realities?

Tip: Again, if you can't find motivation in the pleasure of doing the work, maybe the pain of not doing the work will be enough to get you motivated to achieve your goals. Sometimes a little accountability will also help get you going in the 'right' direction. Find someone who you can work with to hold you accountable to your goals and who would like you to hold them accountable to achieving their goals. A little accountability can go a long way and make all the difference.

Think of the moments that you find yourself not motivated to achieve your goals not as a reason to beat yourself up for being weak or less than perfect, but as an opportunity to check-in and examine if your goals are still in alignment with where you're headed. Goals should inspire you into action and propel you along your path to success; if they're not, use these questions to help you uncover the real issue.

Top 10 Tips on How to Get And Stay Motivated

Learning how to get and stay motivated isn't always an easy task. It's especially difficult when you're dreading the task at hand and are inclined to procrastinate. Below, are the Top 10 Tips to help you get motivated - and back on track. They will also help you stay on track so you achieve your goals and be even more successful.

1. Find what drives you. Are you driven by your own needs, by the need of your family, or by someone else? How about the needs of your clients? Are you willing to work 10-hour days because your client is in a pinch or because you desire the end result? Maybe your drive comes from paying off your debt and providing a better life for your family. ACTION STEP: Find what drives you and then exploit it to stay motivated and focused. Write it down and post it at your work station where you will see it frequently throughout the day.

2. Visualize the end result. Zoning in on the end result is one of the key steps in being able to understand how to get motivated. When you accomplish a goal, you feel a sense of excitement or triumph. ACTION STEP: Visualize how you'll feel once you accomplish each goal. Make a to-do list for the things you'd like to do once you get this task out of the way. Maybe you'll take a mini vacation with your significant other, make an appointment to get a massage, or take a day off and play golf. Hang that list where it will remind you frequently of the desired result.

3. Reward yourself. Aren't rewards the biggest motivator? Give yourself a tiny prize every time you accomplish something on your to-do list. Motivate yourself with a cup of coffee, a break to read your favorite books, or the time to take that vacation. ACTION STEP: Set up small rewards for each goal you achieve. Staying motivated is a heck of a lot easier when you've got something exciting in the immediate future to look forward to.
4. Change your scenery. Sometimes, it's just difficult to get motivated when you're looking at the same four walls hour after hour. Occasionally, all you need is a change of scenery to get the ball rolling. ACTION STEP: Shake things up by changing your scenery. If it's a nice summer day, get some work done while sitting on your porch. If you live in the city, head to a coffee shop and plop yourself down into a nice cushy chair, get a latte and get to work.

5. Plan ahead. Creating a realistic schedule is essential when trying to understand how to get motivated. ACTION STEP: Give yourself a set amount of time to complete each task and then move on. If you're not done before times up, save the task for the end of the day and reprioritize your to-do list for the following day.

6. Divide responsibility. You're not just an entrepreneur; you also have personal responsibilities that need your attention. If you have a spouse or children, consider delegating some responsibilities to them. Instead of using your break to drive to the post office and mail bills, ask your significant other if they have time to do it before he or she heads to work. If you usually wake up early to clean the house, give your 13-year old $20 to clean the house three times each week. ACTION STEP: Hold a family and/or team meeting to divide responsibilities throughout your household (and office) so you can free up your most valuable time to taking on the most high-impact actions.

7. Remember why you do this. You obviously became an entrepreneur for a reason. Perhaps you have a passion for what you do or it allows the flexibility you need in your schedule. Maybe your income provides great benefits to you or your family that would otherwise be minimal if it were not for your business. ACTION STEP: Constantly be mindful of why you do what you do - it's one of the best ways to easily get and stay motivated.

8. Use fear. This may seem like a dirty little trick, but sometimes it's a necessary evil to truly learn how to stay motivated. If you are unable to connect with why you do what you do, perhaps thinking of what would happen if you didn't will remind you. You may use this only as a last resort if nothing else seems to be working. ACTION STEP: Think of what you could lose if you don't get the task at hand completed. Analyze what's at stake and let the fear of losing these valuable things pump you into getting motivated!

9. Raise the Bar. Successful entrepreneurs know that constantly raising the bar is the true key to self improvement. Raising the bar each time you reach a goal will force you to advance your skills, become a strategic thinker and ultimately thrust you towards completing your responsibilities in a more efficient manner. ACTION STEP: Raise the bar every month or even every week. If you have a goal in mind, step it up one or two more notches, yet it must still be believable for you. You'll soon start to see your motivation (and your ability to achieve more) sky rocket.

10. Break a Sweat. It's no secret that exercising boosts your confidence and helps you stay motivated. Get active and clear your thoughts by taking a jog in the park each morning, swimming a lap in your pool during your lunch break or speed walking with your dog before work. Any kind of physical activity for thirty minutes or longer will help you get motivated and boost your levels of endorphins. ACTION STEP: Commit to 30-minutes per day of any type of exercise. Use your personal preference (morning, afternoon or night) to use your peak energy to the best advantage.
Follow these tips and action steps to help you get and stay motivated and you will continue to move closer to achieving your goals. Remember, it's about staying focused and disciplined, taking many positive steps forward while minimizing or eliminating the backwards steps, and committing to doing what it takes to get you where you want to be.
